Adult coloring books ARE therapeutic
Artist profile 2016. Stay tuned for 2017.
Fred was a budding artist in high school, but never pursued any art training or ideas that it was something he would continue into adulthood. But when his mother died five years ago, Fred relied on coloring books to help ease his pain of depression. He doesn’t have a favorite scene, style, or illustrator, but the act of adding color, the mesmerizing pace of filling in the blank spaces, and the silence that surrounds him when he’s coloring, is a calm tool for him to deal with his mother’s passing.
Fred was a featured artist in the American Visionary Art museum’s “Walk in their Shoes” show and is excited to be participating in Mosaic’s first Create for Recovery show.
